CALL FOR ARTISTS

This Juried Exhibition is part of an exciting collaboration between the Sustainable Ringwood Green Team, the Ringwood Manor Association of the Arts, and artist Kate Dodd – the Found Art Project. The mission of the project is to create a multi-faceted experience for the community that explores the theme of sustainability through an artistic lens. The focal point of this project is Kate Dodd’s public art installation currently on view at Ringwood Manor, which the community can enjoy as they explore the grounds through November 21, 2021. The Juried Exhibition will open on Saturday, October 9, coinciding with a hands-on workshop led by Kate where participants will use repurposed materials to team up on a group installation. Both the workshop and the exhibition are open to participants of all ages and artistic abilities.

We are looking for your unique interpretation of our throwaway culture, and are hoping to start a conversation about the first, second, and third incarnations of our waste. This exhibition will be on display at the Ringwood Manor Barn Gallery starting Saturday, October 9 through Sunday, October 16, 2021. Along with Kate Dodd’s installation, “Understory,” it will serve as a visually impactful reminder of the effect each of us has on our environment.

The challenge to artists participating in the show is to highlight themes of reusing, repurposing, reclaiming, and reimagining what we throw away. Some of the objects entered into the show will be beautiful. All will be clever and thought-provoking. Some will be silly and charming. Others may capture the essence of our ongoing climate crisis, a result of our thoughtless disposal of dangerous materials. All will be made of materials that already have a non-art function and are tossed out as useless when that function ends. Artists – put your vision to work!

Artwork Eligibility:

  • All 3D & 2D artworks up to 5’ x 8’ will be considered.

  • Up to three (3) entries per person will be considered.

  • All participants must be either a resident of Ringwood, NJ, or a member (any level) of the Ringwood Manor Association of the Arts. To learn more and become an RMAA member, click here.
