En Plein Air Art in the Park Day & Demo

Contest is FREE for members/$10 for non-members
There is a morning sign-in with canvas stamping.

This will be an en plein air judged contest featuring awards, followed by a watercolor demo by artist and teacher Arthur Gilmore. After the awards, we will take a group photo. Participants must sign in and have paper/canvas stamped before beginning the day’s art.    

The demo is Free to all will start at approximately 2:30 pm

Sketch Out: Life Drawing Workshop

*Please note – This is an off-site event*

This will be a life drawing workshop featuring model Kerri Taylor. The session will start with 2- —to 5-minute sketches and work our way up to 25-minute poses. At the end, we will review the art and take a group photo.


Fee: $30 members/$45 nonmembers/online registration required – see the link below.

Photography Exhibition:

Full details for the photography exhibition will be sent out and posted as it gets closer, but for your planning, please note the information below. 

 Receiving will be on July 13. This show is open to members and non-members. There is a two-piece per artist limit, and pre-registration will be required. The exhibition will open on Friday, July 19 with an awards reception on the afternoon of July 20. Artwork pickup will be on August 24. 

As mentioned above, full details will be sent as the show gets closer.

Congratulations – Found Art Project Juried Exhibition Winners!

Thank you to all who joined us for a joyous award ceremony yesterday afternoon! Congratulations to the Found Art Project Juried Exhibition winners:

Congratulations to RMAA Scholastic Arts Award Winners

Congratulations to RMAA Young Artist exhibitors Sarah Abrahamsen and Nick Metz. Both have won regional awards in the 2017 National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Through the years, both Sarah and Nick have been winners at the RMAA’s Annual Young Artist Expo. Regional Scholastic Art judging took place at Montclair Art Museum and an awards reception was recently held there. Over 420,000 student pieces were submitted nationally for judging, with over 4,200 being judged at Montclair.

Sarah won 4 Gold Key Awards, one for her portfolio project Abu (Abuelita), two Gold Keys for photography, and one for mixed media. Additionally, Sarah was awarded a Silver Key in photography, an honorable mention in photography, and two Honorable Mentions in mixed media. Nick was awarded a Gold Key in photography, an Honorable Mention in photography, three Silver Keys in painting, two Honorable Mentions in painting, along with two Honorable Mention in Drawing.

RMAA President, Joe Fontana is a Scholastic Arts adjudicator in New Jersey and New York regions.

Gold Key winners will move to national judging in New York City, with national awards being presented this summer at Carnegie Hall.
